You likely need a new battery. It's apparently not holding a charge; Check battery voltage. Also check your ground connections, make sure they are clean and tight.

take the battery and the starter out, get them both tested. most places do it for free. figure out which one needs to be replaced. Usually a starter is just one click, and battery is multiple clicks.

Battery is two nuts and the retainer.

Starter is two bolts and 3 nuts.

Buying the right part the first time: Priceless.

Very often the stock battery cables will begin to corrode internally, leaving then looking good, but functioning poorly. Upgrading from the stock aluminum cables to some decent copper cables (both positive and negative cables) is something that every 1st gen owner should do. It saves so much trouble (and troubleshooting) later on down the road.

The problem is most likely a lack of energy getting to the starter, either from a dead battery or bad cables, or a combination of the two. And since you tried to start her up, and failed, she's probably flooded now. So make sure you've got a good strong battery in there, and the power can get to the starter, before you try it again.

Good luck! :)
