HELP! SA to FB ignition swap - I broke my car.

I swapped distributors and coils per this writeup - http://www.mazspeed.com/ignitionswap.htm

When I got to the "check voltage at the coils and ignitors" part, I found no voltage at either coil. The only way I could get voltage to show up at the coils was to reconnect the factory connections at the coil posts. This left me with 2 connections per coil - one to the factory wiring harness and one going to the ignitor.

After hooking it up like this, I got voltage at the coils/ignitors. I hooked everything up and tried to start it, but It's just kinda sputtering. It's trying to start I think, but failing miserably. I attached some pictures of my setup.

Maybe my distributor cap is on backwards?

Maybe I'm a tooth off?

Trailing coil is the one towards the front, and leading is towards the back right?

HELP ME PLEASE because I'm stranded at my girlfriend's house.

I tried to start it with the dizzy all the way clockwise, all the way counterclockwise, and in the middle. won't run. I checked leading and trailing plugs and coils, it all matches what the dizzy cap says. When I try to start it it smells like it's trying to start, i smell smokiness.

is it off a tooth?

no i did not. right now the 12v power source is coming from the stock harness. Should I run a new 12v power source from somewhere, or is the old one okay to use?

so the two ballast resistor lines that I spliced together need to be run to my coils after I splice them together? if so then that's where I went wrong. I still think my dizzy may be off, I'm going to reinstall the dizzy and check on that wiring.

I did splice the b/w whires with the corresponding yellow ones.

I fixed it! The distributor was way the hell off. I pulled it, reset the engine timing, and reinstalled the dizzy while paying attention to the marks on the gear. Now it runs smooth and it doesn't break up anymore with the choke out!

electronic ignition ftw
