Help with Nikki Carb
This is my first Rx-7 and the first car that i've had with a carb. I bought a rebuild kit for it and don't know where to start. Any tips or anything that would be great.

search for sterling. he's done everything you could possibly do to a nikki and has some GREAT write-ups about it.

Download a copy of the FSM and follow it. Lotsa good pics and instruction. If you run into trouble, we're here to help. Oh tips. Clean throughly and reassemble it in a clean environment. Take pics as you disassemble it (will help later on).

Be aware that their are small weights and ball bearing check valves inside the carb.....don't turn it upside down if you've started removing jets/bleeds.
Don't adjust the float height unless you have a problem. It doesn't go out of adjustment unless someone has stuffed around with it. |
Carb manual link is in my sig line, you'll need it.

the carbs are pretty simple to work on and rebuild. in addition to what has already been suggested, i wouold suggest that you take your time and clean and inspect each part as required while you have the carb apart. be careful with your air bleeds as the rebuild kits dont come with them. make sure everything is clean befoer you reassemble. sterling or Rx7carl can offer some excellent advice on the carbs. they are two very valueable carb guys on this forum. download the carb service manual as trochoid suggested. its a lifesaver!
