help me please
ok so i had a water pump fail on me and i got finished replacing it today. i put all new belts on too and i no longer have the stock fan i have an electicr one from a caviler i think ( i cant remember). then i start it up today after filling the rad and resivoir with 50/50 coolant and water. i go for a spirited drive to see if the belts slip at all and what do i find but an engine bay full of steam and my car over heating. what else should i check i am thinking the thermostat? any suggestions?

There is a thin ass washer/spacer between the block and waterpump housing.
Another cause of leak is a broken gasket in the above area. You will need to take the entire water pump housing apart and re-seal it with silicone. |
but there is no leak?

Was the e-fan installed with the new pump, or was it there before? If new, what is the cfm rating? Thermostat is a good possibility if the e-fan was there before.

there before but it was there when the water pump failed for about 2 weeks before

Are you refering to the upper hose neck that mounts on top of the thermostat? If the top is out of round, you may be able to reshape it, if it's the base, replace it.
|
it is the top

make sure the thermostat is seated in its grove...and a good gasket
