HELP! Manual steering box, how much fluid
 

OK my box fucking Locked UP on me today.

I finally broke it free... and this doesnt make any sence as the box is only a few years old.

I looked at the white fill plug ont he box and I cant see any lube in there!!! How high is it supposed to be filled and with what?

I need an answer asap.

It's a manual box, correct? The FSM says that it takes 0.325 liters of API service GL4. The FSM doesn't tell you how to check the level (at least I didn't see it). Hope this helps.

I don't see the harm in filling it up almost to the top. They always seem to be low -- I wonder where the oil goes.

I've never heard of one locking up before, though. Was this while you were driving?

yep it was while I was driving. I filled it up with 75w90 and it seems to be just fine now.

However it keeps leaking fluid, but I'll tackle that another day.

That's scary. How fast were you going?
