help with installing a line lock on GSL-SE
 

Hey all,
I'm wanting to install a line lock on my 84 GSL-SE but am a little confused. The drivers side line comes out the bottom of the master, and the passengers side brake line comes out of what I guess is the brake bias thing. So how do I install the line lock and where? Has anyone done this and have any advice? Thanks!

I ended up putting mine on the rear brakes. Not pleased with it, but cheaper than buying 2 of them to do the front. I was going to tee the front lines, but was afraid I might lose some of the volume needed to the brakes for street driving.

Why would you put a line lock on the rear wheels of a rear wheel drive car?

Think how a linelock works first, before you ask that question. It stops fluid flow. It can do that before or after the brakes are applied.

Since safety is more important to me than convient burnouts, I chose to block the rear lines. If it becomes too incovienent, I'll add a second one and block both front brakes. I have to thank Mazda for our funky master cylinder setup.

Btw, setting up a linelock was a pita for me, trying to find the right adapters. Between the SAE and metric and 37/42* flare connectiions, got to know the guys at the speed shop pretty well.

There is a write up in the 3rd gen section, or thier archives on installing a linelock.

I don't understand the lin locks on the rear either. I have only seen them on front for drag race/tire warm up applications. Can you explain?

Yeah, I'm confused too. A line lock on the rear? Thats all wrong. The line lock is to lock the front brakes so you can heat up the rear tires.

Bring this old thread back. My friend installed a line lock on my 1st generation, and this thing is confusing. The way he did it now it only locks the driver side wheel?? So has anyone done this with the stock master cylinder and proportioning valave. I need to get this corrected. The line lock is a Hurst. Thanks for any info:

I installed one. I tee'd both front brakes lines into one line which then goes into the line lock.

And in so doing you've provided a single-point-of-failure for your primary braking system - - which is what split-front brake circuits were designed to avoid. Any failure in any front brake line or seal now, and you are going to be suddenly missing about 80% of your braking authority.

Well brakes work fine, stops on a dime, I have turbo II front rotors and calipers. If you referring to me.
