Help with hooking up SAFC on my GSL-SE

I'm having problem hooking up the safc on my 85 gsl-se. I think I hook up the SAFC wrong because my car is run realy bad? If anybody have pictures that would be appreciated?

Thank you.

Doesn't work - tried it already. The voltage is wrong on our AFM's.

I heard it's been done before? Is there any other way aroud this? What piggyback use to turbo the GSL-SE? Please help!

you wont gain anything from an SAFC... whats the point
waste of money in my opinion

jamespond24 10-30-04 02:36 AM

It is turbo charge. You are trying to tell me that you won't gain horsepower turbocharging the GSL-SE? The GSL-SE uses the 3mm seal and I know those seal hold up to some boost?

Gregs 10-30-04 03:06 AM

you DIDNT mention that it was turbocharged, and i never said a TURBO wouldnt add horsepower
i said an SAFC wouldnt add horsepower on a GSL-SE
and i would like to see pics and specs on your turbo setup

I will post picture later but I really need to help hooking it up? I know that the maf for the gsl-se has .5v and on the fc the maf is 1.2v. How about modify the fc maf into the gsl-se? The people at the rx7 store couldn't help but told me that someone on this club has done it? Please any help would be appreciated.

sorry it is the AFM not MRF. My mistake

Gregs 10-30-04 12:31 PM

SAFC are not commonly if at all used on GSL-SE's, so you are really in the wrong place for this i think

web777 10-30-04 06:44 PM

I searched before and nobody has successfully hooked up the SAFC to a GSL-SE. It's the voltage thing. A 2nd gen AFM by itself will not work with the gsl-se ecu. I tried hooking up before and it doesn't work.

Do you think Modifying 2nd Gen AFM to work on GSL-SE? I found this http://max7.rx-7.org/mods/mod-afm.htm . What do you think?

Sell your safc and buy a haltech F5

you can add injectors with this and you dial in when you want the injectors to start by rpm or when it see's boost

Nobody has successfully added an safc on the gsl-se.

A crazy Idea would be to run a 1986 ecu and harness.... however that requires you also to change the ignition coils, distributor to a Crank angle senor, and swap afm's. An I'm still not sure if that has been done either.

Good luck

Sorry if we all seem negative, but at one point or another we all thought about the SAFC and nobody has done it.

That still won't work because you're changing the internals to a gsl-se which brings you back to the voltage prob. You can use HKS AIC or Haltech F5 with additional injectors.

I there a piggyback that control the air and fuel like the safc but rather work with a turbo gsl-se? Would the HKS F-CON do?

Damm, good to know. And here I was contemplating getting one. Guess the FB's gonna remain stock :)
