Help with Big Brakes

4 Attachment(s)
Hey guys ive managed to get a few bits together for my Big Brake upgrade.

Im planning to put FC turbo brakes onto my 1985 FB. I have the brakes and the big brake conversion kit from Respeed.

My FB is a 1985 with factory discs front and rear.

What am i missing?

Thanks, Matt.

front hubs 4 or 5 lug depending on what you want if you go 5 lug you need rear axles (respeed) you also need the rotors!
if you go 4 lug you just need to redrill the rotors to suit the 114 x 4 pattern

I also wanted to get (disc) bigger brakes, axles, ect than what my 1st gen car had:wallbash: . I bought a complete front strut assembly and rear end (with the parking brake cables) which has the larger discs, larger diameter axles, and everything bolted into place. The pcs are kinda hard to find, expensive to ship to you, but well worth it:) . my 2 cents worth.

Oh yes, forgot to mention that the struts and rearend came from a GSL-SE vehicle, which does give you the 4X114.3mm bolt pattern (4X4.5 in) with more options of wheels too.

That is correct. If you decide to go 4x4.5" you can use stock GSL-SE axles.
You may want to get some SS lines made up.

Thank you for the order!

Right so if im keeping my 4 lug pattern I need;

4 lug FC Hubs and rotors for the front and FC hubs for the rear (redrilled)? ( i can keep my original struts that way, correct?)

Plus get an FC parking brake cable and SS lines.

Is that it? have i got that right?

What about the brake booster and Bias, any issues there?

For the rear, you'll need to replace the 4X110 axles with the SE 4X114.3 axles. Then you can go with the SE rear brakes or ReSpeed's big brake upgrade for the rear.

Since you didn't mention a hp goal, and I don't know if the SE brake and axle package was sold down under, ReSpeed can have axles made up for you by Moser.

Personally, when going with a big brake package, I'd go with the 2nd gen 5 bolt pattern. That will give you a much larger selection of rims to choose from. Also, I'm not sure if the 4-pot calipers will fit the 2nd gen 4 bolt rotors. The 5 bolt rotors, which mate to the 4-pot calipers, are larger than the 4 bolt rotors. Billy can probably answer that question for clarity.

My choice for parts would be 5 bolt hubs, 4-pot brakes from a TII or GXL, 5 bolt ReSpeed rear axles, with the brake package to match the front and ReSpeeds brackets and SS brake lines all around.

the hubs are the same i believe 4 or 5 lug, but you want the bigger T11 calipers and rotors (drilled if staying with 4 lug)

I just completed my setup last week, here's what you need....

Front = Hubs (from 5 lug model), rotors,4 pot claipers,RE kit and brake lines.
Rear= rotors, calipers, Re kit, brake lines and either re-drill your current axles or order new ones from RE.

That is it.....

No need for FC rear hubs or e-brake cables as you will use your original ones with th RE Kit..

To keep 4 lug you still need the 5 lug rotors. They are larger. You have the 5 lug rotors drilled to 4 lug by picking up on one of the existing 5 lug holes and adding 3 new ones.

(HP goal is 300+HP)

haha it can get a little confusing when you try to keep the old 4 lug pattern.

Well i have a great set of ANZ 17" 6 spoke wheels that are 4 lug. They suit the car down to the ground so i really want to keep them. if the only big modifications to keep them is drilling holes and new axles then im happy.

So FC 4 lug Front Hubs with drilled FC 5 lug Front Rotors.

A set of 4X114.3 axles (moser) with drilled FC 5 lug rear rotors.

SS brake lines

think we are getting somewhere.

Thanks fellas.

these are the wheels. They really suit and came with spacers for the larger calipers.
