The hell with NGK
 

In my se's owners manuel they list nippo denso's as an accepatble replacement plug. I've had them in for about 10,000 miles and had no problems. They look a little funny with the 4 electrodes, and they may not perform quite as well, but they cost me $2.75 each. For the stock replacement NGK's I checked at every parts store in town, Napa, Autozone, Kragen, Pep boys, Car quest. The absolute cheapest I could find them for was $6.50 each. I'm not about to pay that much when I have to change them every 12-15,000 miles. I know you can get them cheaper online, but that's a pain too.

Damn, I always looked for the nippon denso, but could never find them. I paid 32 bucks the first time i changed plugs. The second time I paid 22. Check out partsamerica.com they list the NGKs for 3 or 4 bucks plus shipping. Advance auto has them, at least here, for 4 or 5 bucks.

You guys paying too much. O'reilly's has NGK's for $3.69 a piece.

yea i pay about $22.00 a change also,but getting 12,000-15,000.shit your lucky i only get about 6,000.

I've used NGK's religiously in my TII for 140,000.. No problems. Changed every 7-10,000. Tried a set of Denso's.. #1 trailing plug stopped firing in 800 miles... Back to NGK's @ $15 at Advanced..No problems since.

I'm using NGK's in my 7. Just because I want the best for my car. :)

I'm tellin ya man.... use the BR8ETs like you're supposed to... replace the leading plugs every 2-3,000mi and move the old leading plugs to trailing, and put the old trailing plugs in the glovebox (in case you ever flood the car and need "clean" plugs to get running again).

I was getting significant wear on my plugs after 3k in leading and 3k in trailing... since leading plugs wear out faster, I'd replace them every oil change to keep 'em fresh, and the old ones'd do OK in the trailing position. That way it costs the same as four new plugs every 6k but you're actually getting more plug for your money because the most important ones stay relatively new. It's cheap compared to other stuff... it's about as much as the oil change you do at the same time (it's easiest to get the spark plugs from underneath the car... try it, especially with A/C!), if you premix then you go through one 99 cent 8-oz bottle roughly every 200mi, which is about $15 every 3k.... tires last about 30k, at say $75 a tire that's $300 a set or $30 every 3k... plugs are only a small part of the maintenance bill even at $4 apeice.

There are only three sets of NGK's for 12a's in abilene at any givin point in time. There are 2 O'Rieley's and One Pep Boys. O'Reiley gets 4.65 a pop and the Pep Buys 4.99.

So I stock up when I go to the store for anything.
