Headlight problems
I was driving home last night, and when I hit my left turn signal, my lights (low beams) went out for a split second, and then came back on, and then a little bit later, they cut out for about a second or two when I wasn't touching the signal bar at all. Anybody have any ideas?

sounds like maybe a corroded terminal in the switch assembly on the steering column, seeing as how your headlight switch is on the same thing as your turn signal switch...

Good point, I'll check it out. Thanks.

You might also want to check your fusible links under the hood. There may be a bad connection there.

Alright alright alright.....
Yeah I would take the steering wheel off and disassemble the turn signal/wiper/headlight combo switch. Be careful of the small ball bearings, you don't want to lose them. Use contact cleaner and a pink eraser head works great for cleaning the copper contacts (I remembed that one from my old slot car days as a kid, advice straight from Tyco). Use some dielectric grease when you put it back together and it should work like new. good luck dude. Right on. |
