Headlight Issues

My headlights go up and down fine with both the switch on the dash and the main one on the steering colum but they will not turn on sometimes...If i toggle the switch sometimes a few times it works, and sometimes they come on fine. It appears it might be related to how cold it is out but i cant confirm that cuase i cant see how that would matter. Also my rear window defroster tab broke off the window and went missing. I am pulling my hair out trying to find a new one...it seems like no one sells them, advice?

Rear defrost tab:

Sounds like its at the very least a dirty connection. Btw the light switch (column mount - the dash panel sw only controls the motors so is prob irrelevant) will be the place to start.
-loose harness connections
-loose fuse/damaged fuse joint

Do you have an electrical manual? Download one so you know what you are looking at, of at least can properly follow up from any advice given here.
Model yr will prob help too.

I believe one of your three fusable links on your inner fender energizes your headlamp circut and I would look there first for a corroded connection. If you find the defroster tab, the next challenge will be re-affixing it to the hatch. 3M sells a dialectric adhesive for these purposes. you might go by an automotive glass place to see if they can help.
