header ?

Pretty simple. Can a RB header for a 79-80 be made to fit my 84 12A? I've got access to a welder and am developing some (pretty pathetic) fabrication skills. If I could get one for cheap would it be worth it?
Thanks,
Grant

Yes

You can add a chunk of aluminum to the bottom of the SA manifold so it'll work on the later engines. I'm sure you already knew that. ;)

Jeff, he said header not 79 intake :D
you should not have to do anythng to bolt it to the engine, a 12a header is a 12a header. As for attaching it to the rest of the exhaust, that depends on your header type and what the rest of the exhaust if like.

CoolI I'll keep that in mind. I'm pretty much just going to be running a straight pipe to a single muffler. If it's crazy loud I'll throw on stainless packed magnaflow silencer. I'm looking for a nice deep sound at idle and a really mean howl up top.
Thanks,
Grant

P.S. Can't wait to get a header and feel the difference it'll make.

Pretty much my same setup, loud as hell!

D'oh! :)

Grantmac, i suggest that you run a straight pipe to a PRIMAFLOW muffler from Racing Beat. I promise you that it is the sound you are looking for. You will thank me later.

Yeah but they are super huge $, the RB ones that is. I'm gonna look in the Edelbrock RPM series, supposedly they have really good muffling properties and technically aren't straight through. If one isn't enough I'll run two of em.

Ok man, but I am speaking from personal experience. I built a sweet system for my brother's 7 using a RB header and the tried and true Dynomax bullet and main muffler, many floks swear by this setup. We happened to get ahold of an extra Primaflow so I decided to experement, we were bored and:allcho: and I have a lift in my house as well as a welder so what have we got to lose right? and I'm tellin ya, straight 2 1/4 ti a primaflow somehow just worked perfect. Everyone who has heard both systems has said hands down the latter.
But I also am very interested in the Edelbrock piece so let us know the results, by the way the Primaflow's are straight through. Kind of like a huge double barrel glass pack, the way they pull it off is the volume of the large can which gives them their signiture deep muted tone and the stainless steel wool packing.
