Has anyone shaved their door handles

If so is there anything that makes it a complet PITA? I'm thinking about doing this as primarily a securty thing.

I plan to do it to my GSL-SE project. I don't see any problems. My plan is to cut and form a piece of sheet metal, cut out the handle recess - TIG weld it in. Grind, sand, sand sand, sand, prime and paint. Same thing with the antenna hole.

It would look neat, that's for sure. A friend of mine wants to install the finger handles from a G1 Miata.

I want to shave the locks, keep the handles, and have them dipped in chrome.

Just like my old GSL-SE (back in 96). Looked great with the polished wheels and mirror tint.

i was thinking about shaving the handles as well, but decided that i didnot want to rely on door popers (i am not sure how reliable they are) . so i shave just my door locks instead.. it looks clean enough for me.

If you shave the locks, how are you gonna use the screwdriver to get back in your car, when you loose your remote "door poppers"?

i might shave handles and lock on my GSL this summer when i mold the body kit to the body.. i will have a hidden switch for the door release as well as a small ground/power wire for emergency charging

only prob with shaving door handles is that if u want t o run the car on the track some tracks wont let u because of safety my friend has a mustang he just dropped a cobra motor in it then shaved the handles and they wont let him run it

i can get some better pics if needed

its actually quite annoying, I bought the car that way and frankly am thinking to go back to handles. The poppers the previous owner had on it dont work worth a darn and the 'manual' latch to open the door is too akward to get to (in front fender, behind whee well cover) and if anyone sees you use it its a dead giveaway.

besides since the window motor failed I just took it out and push the window down to open the door

Thanks for posting that pic Hans, that shows it a lot better.
