Hard starting

I kind of got this going in the "coil 101" thread, but I need to find out if there's an actual problem or not.
Seems I have to crank for 10-20 seconds before it will begin to fire up when sitting a couple of days. After that, fires up, runs fine. A mechanic told me "that's just a rotary", but I'm not so sure. I do use the choke, helps once it fires up. 84 GSL. Any thoughts? Thanks!

A cupholder and some decals will solve that. Add 50 HP too...

I turn the key to the on position, pull the choke, pump the gas twice, then turn the key to start. It cranks over in about a second every time. Even my Cosmo cranked over quickly every time. I don't think your mechanic has his story right.

Do you smell gas when you start? Perhaps for some reason it's flooding. Or..... perhaps it's not getting gas. Try pumping the gas after you turn the key to the "on" position. "Fuel pump has to be on". Just a thought.

Nope, don't smell gas, I don't expect to until I get my first couple of RC's consumed with the assistance of the now famous "Manntis Cupholder Decal Combo":p:
I will try the 'pull & pump twice' method, sounds kinky!

It's probably fuel bleeding after you turn it off and let it sit. Before starting, see if there is any gas when pedal pressed.
If you want to try something, take air cleaner off, pour a little gas in carb, put air cleaner back on and try starting it. If it fires right up.....fuel problem.
