Guy is selling my old 83 gsl but is full of crap!

Looks like my old 83 gsl is for sale on craigslist. I sold this for scrap awhile back because i was so sick up dumping money into this rust pit the only thing i regret with this car is not taking the rims i really loved those. But it looks like he was planing on fixing it up but gave up and is selling it for $1200. But the guy is flat out lying saying it is rust free this car was one winter away from falling apart so i don't know who he is fooling if you go back to my old threads you can see what kind of damage it had it wasn't pretty.

Buyer beware. People lie all the time. Assume whatever you read in a craigslist ad is a lie until proven
otherwise. He's probably hoping he gets a little more than the scrapper will give him. That car for
scrap would pull in about $300. If its as rusty as you say, it may not be worth any more than that.

i guess i'm showing my age, but when i was younger the sellers claims were usually a complete farce. we even had a fun little car ad to english translation thing

like this one: Auto Humor: Classified Ad Translator | AUTOMOTIVE MILEPOSTS

Solid body—Body is solid bondo, front to rear.
Looks great—At 70 mph. At night. In the rain.

Correction Cody. He's selling his old 83 GSL.

And since the car is his he can do whatever he wants with it.

For all you know, he's repaired all the rust, in which case calling him a liar would be slanderous on your part.

As Tim says, buyer beware.

Any mature, reasonably intelligent buyer will take a good look at the car and offer what it's worth, no more.

So really, don't worry about it, it's not your problem anymore.

There is no way he repaired the rust on it it was on the hood, doors, sides, wheel wells, and the rear. It just pisses me off he would lie like that but there is no way the buyer wouldn't know unless he didn't even look at it before he buys it. A guy lied to me like that on a rx7 i was interested in buying said it was rust free and nothing wrong with it so i go over 3 hours to go see it and there was rust everywhere plus the engine was leaking oil so the guy wasted 6 hours of my time. It just pisses me off when people lie like that.

Here are the pics i took of the rust trust me the rust was times 10 worse then it looks in the pics and in about a couple years it will just start falling apart that is how bad it is.

You need to be careful who you're calling a liar Cody.

A competent Wankel Whisperer can fix rust like that in a Georgia Weekend.

Here's some pics of a job I did one Saturday on a Turd Brown 85 GSL that spent one too many winters in Ohio:

I know rust can be fixed but there is no way he put all the time in to get rid of it. Plus i see from the pics he still has the same doors which proves right there he is a liar because the doors had tons of rust on the bottom and you can tell from the pics he didn't do any work on the doors. I can't text him because he knows me but i bet if someone here texted him and asked pics of the bottom he wouldn't do it. Plus he still has the side panels and plastic body kit on it so he didn't fix the rust under there either. Ray i know this rx7 inside and out and i am 99.99% sure he did no rust work on it.

Don't worry about it Cody. Getting worked up does you no good.

Post pics of the rest of the repairs, if you feel like it.

I never did much on it once i started digging into it i found out it was not worth my time so i took what i needed from it. I called this guy Ryan to come scrap it but i guess he liked it and wanted it as a project but found out like me it wasn't worth investing into.

always entertaining to read your threads cody. all you can do is make a buyer beware thread and warn others and move forward. take a breath, relax, and no need to get mad. as a buyer, you always protect yourself and ask the right questions but no matter what, there will always be people who will try to trick, lie, mislead, cheat, etc. to make a few bucks.

Shhhhhh! It's under the duct tape and grey primer. :egrin:

(just kidding) As far as the O.P.'s former '83 - other 'enthusiasts' sometimes purchase vehicles with clear titles so they can transfer registration to another vehicle. Likely did not happen in this case as (cody?) is very sure he recognized much about the car and not feasible to make one car out of two - in this case at least.
