gslse coil wiring

I have the car basically ready to start but I need confirmation on some wiring from any SE gurus. The tach signal for the injectors that goes to the ECU, does the thick black and yelliw wire go to the positive or negative terminal on the trailing coil? The thinner black wire goes where? I know theyre supposed to split into the 4 wires that go to the 6 pin connector under the washer bottle.

I might probe my connecter today to see whether any wires go to the coils (do a continuity check). At first guess, they don't, but I won't know until I try.

It's my guess the coaxial cable in question goes through the driver's harness. Either way you;ll have to add a custom shielded cable; no big deal.

And to answer your question, it would be the negative (-) side of the coil where the tach signal is derived from. The positive side is just switched on whenever the key is "on" or in "crank/start."

I connected both black/yellow wires to the trailing + and both gray and yellow/green to the trailing -. I did a test probe on the ECU terminals E and F I believe for the injectors and got 12v with the key on.

I buttoned it all up today. I only lack a couple things. I got the J-109 ignition wired in and did a spark test, all is good. I got the ECU mounted and all ECU related relays wired in. I tested everything and there is voltage everywhere it should be. When you open the AFM flap the fuel pump relay clicks and pump kicks on. I wired up a relay for the ECU as well. Everything passed the smoke test.

Next on the list is an oil change, fill it up with water, and K&N cone filter. Im still waiting on the fuel tank modifications and I need to order the RB 13b header and silencer and it will be ready to go.

I did get to bump the engine over a bit while testing. Its almost as good as hearing it run at this point. I never get tired of a project going from 1000 pieces to a functioning machine.

So I had a chance to check the connector. Yep, it has two wires from the trailing coil just like you thought. One is yellow with a stripe and the other is black. They both have the same continuity and are probably connected together at the the same point, possibly on the trailing coil negative terminal where they both enter the same connector. Either way, it answers some questions.

The thick black / yellow wire is on the trailing + on my end. I imagine it doesnt need to be on a coil, rather it just needs the switched 12v. Its where the injectors got their power from. Before I plugged the black/yellow into the + of the coil I had no 12v present at the ECU for the injectors. Only thing is... The wires I used for the - side are not shielded. They are for initial startup purposes only until I can source some o2 sensor style shielded cable.
