GSL-SE Wheel performance
How are the stock GSL-SE wheels in the twisties? Can they hold there own compared to wider wheels? Whats the lowest profile tires out there for the SE wheels?
thanks for your input |
They're not bad, but they're not really that great because they are only 5.5" wide like all the other 1st gen wheels. 14" is a really lame size to try to get tires for. Stock is 205/60 and I think that's just about your only choice, unless you want R-compound, then you can get 205/55. You can get some pretty nice tires in 205/60, though. The GSL-SE is really light and you don't need super wide tires unless you have lots of power.
For real tires you want 15x6 or 16x7... I think people use 16x7 without going crazy with flares and offset. |
Major difference between stock and wide. Going from stock 13X5.5 to 15X7 F, 15X9 R, with the same upgraded suspension package, it's almost scary. Can't wait to get the 15X9 F, 15X10 R on, along with the big brake kit on all 4 wheels.

i use a 185-60-14,i don't really corner hard but that's the lowest profile 14 inch tire i know of.

15x7/9 is definitely wider but the body modifications required to do that might deter most people :)
Hay Trochoid, what size tires do you have on there now, and what are you planning when you upgrade wheels? Do you think you'll see a big improvement? Isn't it hard enough to steer now? :) |

everyone is running 205/50/15's, so I am guessing that 215/50/15s would rub
|
In the front yes... I have 16x8's 32mm offset with 205-45-16's front and 225-50-16's in the back... The rears only rub a little on hard bumps... this is with tokico blue's and ST springs.
