GSL-SE Turbo help
 

Some of you may have seen my buildup of my GSL-SE turbo. This is the setup:

s4 turbo
Stock port 13b from Gsl-se
Stock computer
6 port sleeves removed
External FPR
Haltech F4 fuel computer (for additional injectors)
Locked Dizzy
No rats nest.

1st problem. The motor smokes quite a bit while running (Motor was perfect before adding on turbo) I have thought that the turbo may be seeing too much oil pressure. Its a 3-an line with no restriction. Also, the oil drain is into the oil pan, but there is a baffle to limit any of the problems usually assoicated with a drain into oil pan.

2nd problem
Lack of power and shakes alot at idle. Runs smooth at 2k rpm. The motor has about 30,000km on it from a factory reman. The dizzy was just stabbed and left at that point. On a side note, how do i adjust the trailing timing on a locked dizzy? Fuel pressure is set at 35psi base.

Where do you turbo-se guys hook up boost gauge and etc lines on the manifolds? My boost gauge jumps from -15 vac to 0 on the lightest touch of the accelerator.

if it wasnt smoking before the turbo install you either need an oil restrictor, turbo oil drain is backing up or your turbo is shot. if you ran the drain into the pan, you need to run the oil level low so the oil can gravity drain.if the oil level is above the oil drain the oil will not drain properly
as far as tuning you should get a good wideband afr guage to accurately tune your setup. any advice given on tuning at this point would be guessing.

Drain some oil (a quart) and see if that helps the smoking, most people drain into the front cover which is well above the oil line (or disconnect and blow on the drain line so see if you can feel and restriction). Did you change your omp, is it pulled open too far. Idle, if you have the stock afm you can adjust that by the afm.

I hadnt thought about draining the oil from the pan to rule that out... The reason it is drained into the pan to begin with is that the turbo placement is very low...Too low to drain into the hole in the front cover. I unhooked the OMP to see if that could be the culprit, but no real change. So somthing turbo related.

Must now figure out the lack of power....

I have a Wideband, but its not installed in the car at the moment, but im not worried about that since its running on the stock computer (Should run fine outside of boost)
