GSL-SE stalling

so my car just recently started stalling on me. ill be driving and it just dies and the tac stops working then it will just restart itself while im rolling. sometimes the tac stops working but the car still drives.. it recently got cold here and i also recently replaced my coils with 2 new blaster 2's. Is this a common problem on these cars and are there any typical spots i could check for shorts?? Thanks for any help!

It might be a short caused by it also being a little wet at the moment...

Assuming that you haven't changed anything else on the car, do you still have the original coils? Were they working? I'd be tempted to put them back on and check if the problem occurs with them, too. If it doesn't chances are that one of the new coils is duff/overheating/having a bad time.

could be an igniter problem

is it ignitor just refferring to the ignition coils or what is that? and yeah they were working and i plan on swapping them back in when i get a chance!

hey elford what do you drive? i have only seen a hand full of rotaries in our area!

Haven't got a rotary at the moment (I used to have an FB Elford Turbo, then an FC Turbo II convertible and finally a tuned FD when I was living in the UK). Kinda toying with the idea of getting another FB to mod for road and a little track use. That's why I stuck my head back in here :).

bump.. so does anyone have anymore input? could the blaster 2 coils have too much power or something? are there any relays or fuses or something that could be bad? what are some things i can try to do to help diagnose the problem before a shop rips me off?

BAC valve? TPS?

Now, please dont take my word for the final authority... But if I remember correctly, the Tach is controlled by the trailing (I think?) Ignitor.

I'd assume the problem is electrical at this point and start by swapping back in your original coils. The Ignitors are on the distributor on the engine. They are the little black boxes attached to the side of the distributor. They are prone to failure due to too small an ammount of thermal compound on them to dissipate heat. If an Ignitor is failing, it'll stall the car and the tach will shut down as well (I thiiiiink)

That's where I'd start looking. of course, check grounds on everything too.

question: on the - terminals for each coil is there supposed to be a yellow and a black wire in the same butt connector? only the front coil has a yellow and a black wire. and coming off the black wire closer the the harness has another black wire going nowhere, looks like it might be burnt..

if anyone cares, i put my old but still working coils back in and found a ground wire for the block that was not put back on when my clutch was replaced... now occasionally my starter grinds but other then that car runs fine..
