GSL-SE Replacement Oil Cooler Mounts

So the factory oil cooler mounts on my 85 SE are shot. The rubber has detached from the metal so I temporarily have the cooler held up with tie wire to keep it from bouncing around.. It appears the only factory ones available are for 83 and earlier or 86+ models.

Are there any aftermarket options out there? If not, what has everyone else done for replacements when theirs fell apart?

Although Mazdatrix doesn't list the GSLSE mount on their site I'm sure they can hunt them down for you since the coolers are still available and come with the mounts attached.

I don't see them listed separately from the oil cooler in the parts fiche. I'm not certain if they were available separately.

I was going to post this as well.
Something could be easily fabricated out of some rubber mounts and angle iron or angle aluminum. Not sure if it would take more than 2 hours to measure up and put together.

Thanks guys. I had been thinking of fabbing up something using some universal vibration isolation mounts from McMaster Carr but just wanted to see if anyone had seen seen stockers anywhere before I bought anything. I will see if I can talk to anyone at Mazdatrix or maybe even Mazda Motorsports parts guys before I do.

So apparently I didn't have enough posts to actually reply to my thread before..
Thanks for the tips guys. I have considered fabing up something with some generic post type vibration isolators in the past, I just wanted to see if anyone else has found a bolt in alternative.
I have talked to both Mazda Motorsports and Mazdatrix. They both said factory options have never been available in for the SE.. I was given pretty much that same advice as on here, just go to McMaster Carr and grab some universal mounts and make something. So that's what I guess I'm gonna do.
Time to browse McMaster and see what I can find.

yes, everyone needs to learn/have fabrication skills. good luck and let us know how it goes.

I just used some small vibration isolators that had i think 5/16 threads on them. Dont remember exactly. Had two on each side with a square metal plate that I drilled 4 holes. It was not hard at all. This was for a gslse cooler on a 84 12a car. So the mount was in front of the radiator. Pretty easy to get to on top if u take off the panel in front of the radiator. U can get the vibration isolators from mcmaster. Ive had them on the car for 2plus years now with no problems.

Well timed thread. Thanks for all the suggestions y'all!

So I did end up order some vibration isolators from McMaster Carr. The part number I ordered is 4403K755. I haven't had a chance to fab anything up yet but these should be strong enough to hold the cooler (I plan on using 4). I plan on mounting them in shear load so at 12 lb rating each I think that should plenty of strength. These are also rated to handle up to 300 degrees F so they won't have any issues with the heat of the oil.

It may be a few weeks but once I get something fabbed up I'll try to post up some pics.

I got some vibration isolaters from McMaster- Carr and made some brackets from Aluminum angle stock to fit a fmoc on my 83.
Even glued it to the frame rails with jb weld untill I can get in there and bolt it down. That was 2 years ago, works great.

This is a good topic,

temporarily I welded a small piece of scrap metal to hold because mine fell apart also.
I know it should have isolators but it works for right now

i am going to a FC oil cooler

I recently had to take the cover in front of the radiator off because of a bad horn. So i took some pics of my home made oil cooler mounts. I must be gettin old because my description that i said before was nothing like what i actually did. I used two "L" shaped pieces of angle iron on each side with 4 holes in each one. Here are some pics.

Looks good man. That is pretty much exactly what I plan on doing.
