!!! GSL-SE passed SMOG !!!

Wow after owning this SE for a week now I was so worried that it wouldn't pass smog. Well I finally went for it already being prepared to pay extra for a hookup smog :icon_tup: , this baby passed on its first try with flying colors, I couldn't believe it. :rlaugh: Man I feel so lucky.
Odometer reads (138,000) miles and runs awesome.

Congratulations. I'm glad I don't have to worry about it, considering that lack of emisions = failure.

Now what are you doing online?!?!?! Get out there and drive the damn thing!

boyee 10-26-06 11:48 PM

congrats man. 100% legit

Druken 10-26-06 11:54 PM

Congratulations, lucky you. I wont be so lucky since I only have the full streetport exhaust system... grumbles...

Dude I drive this thing everyday to work and then some. I am tempted to do many mods since I dont have to worry about smog for at least 2 more years.

Well in that case go for it. I thought you had to pass smog before driving it daily, though. I figured you were just prepping it for smog test for some time now and just not got it legalized to drive. My bad.

I have owned 3 2nd Gens and none ever passed smog, not even my 3rd Gen when in stock form didn't pass.

The single best Hp mod you can do for the Se is installing the Rb header system. It will wake up the motor like you can't believe and if you can keep your foot out of it, the gas mileage will increase. 2nd, get rid of the stock air box and install a Cone filter, Kn or similar. Then, put the lightened steel flywheel on, then do alot of grinning.;)

A tip on the Se's. The one major component that gets out of adjustment all on it's own is the AFM. Do not ever adjust at the AFM or the fenderwell where the A/F adjutment is. If you go in for smog and the numbers are too high and everything is in sync including the injectors cleaned, and the converter is still lighting off. Then find someone that will crack the AFM open and readjust it on a emmision machine and all will be well again.

I actually have headers already from a 2nd Gen that I had before. It should bolt right on right? Anyway I cant wait to install them next week and add a magnaflow muffler.

My SA just passed a few weeks ago. Im in the same position you are now, just ready to tear everything off it and start modding and worrying about emissions 2 years from now.

The 2nd gen Header will bolt right on. I highly recommend that you run a pre-silencer or the noise with that Magnflow will be so loud that the "Law" will be pulling you over on a regular basis.:)

Whats the big deal on passing smog. My cars passes with flying green color. :icon16:

13BNUT 10-27-06 06:45 PM

Yeah mine was green all the way. LOL

My 82 has always passed exceptionally well-better than any other car I've had. Just had it done in March, and it will be the last time for emissions testing. It's done every two years in Seattle, but vehicles 25 years or older don't have to be tested :lol2:
