GSL-SE Oil Pan Temp Sensor
I have two GSL-SE 13b engines, one off my car that is blown, and another running engine I got to replace my original. I am swapping them out and noticed that my 1985 GSL-SE has an oil temp sensor just behind the float sensor on the oil pan. The other engine doesn't. Anyone know why? Is the replacement engine possibly a 1984? Did the 1984 GSL-SE also have the oil temp sensor? Any ideas?

The oil temp sensor is for the sub-zero start assist, and California cars didn't come with one. So my guess is it's from Cali.

Cool thanks, my sub zero is out anyways, so I'll just put the other engine in and not worry about it.

yup, no need to worry about it. some people prefer SE oil pans without the sensor, some block it off and some leave it. some just unplug it.. no worries either way. and yes j tso is correct, the CA emissions cars came without the sender.
