gsl-se oil cooler
im looking for the size (volume) or #of pass oil cooler i should use for a Se 13b? what size should the tube that runs through the cooler be?
|
This topic has been discussed in great detail regarding the appropriate cooler for out engines.
The outcome has always been the same. Use the Se cooler or put a 2nd gen one on. There is a archived thread on how to install a 2nd gen oil cooler or our years. |
well here is the kicker. i have space limitations. so im looking for the minimum i need plus some. the engine is going into a 1970vw bug so i have 2 places to ideally mount it. under the deck lid or above the transmission. just depends on what size requirements are. i did a search and didnt quite find whhat i needed to know.

Both terrible places from an airflow perspective. I don't think the deck lid will fit with a Mazda in it. Seen it before and it doesn't look right. That is a tough one. Whhere is the radiator goin? gd |
FD oil coolers come in pairs and can be split up, just a thought.

I agree with jeff. An oil to water cooler should work out well.

the deck lid is louvered and i was going to add a bad ass fan to it so i dont think air flow is an issue. plus the spot on the floor near the transmission has worked for many people with a little ducting

I put a beehive in my baja and it works just fine. And there's tons of room back there because it's a baja.

i heard the beehive sucked. plus this is on a 13b was that only on the 12 a?
There are great aftermarket radiators available. Jegs or Summit have quite a few very reasonably priced. I got a couple for some buggies I have. All AL consturction, rugged and compact. You CAN do better than the production stuff. Is this a baja we're talking about? gd |
it a full bodied car. did the beehive ever come equipped on a 13b? i am using a stock radiator witha beefy electric fan. heres a link to the photo album of my build http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v6..._bug/70%20bug/
