fuel pump relay access
Can anyone tell me the best way to get to the fuel pump relay on an 84-85? I pulled up many old threads from which the pictures were deleted, but nothing too helpful. According to the Haynes manual the it seems the entire dash on the drivers side must be pulled back in order to access the relay.
If theres a better way to get to it pleeeease help me out here. Thanks.

I've kept looking around and have read that the relay is located below and to the left of the ECU under the pass side "floorpan." I checked it out and there is a similar looking connection there but not the connector specified inn the Haynes manual.
If this is actually it, the jumping procedure cannot be the same as noted in the manual. ANyone know which pins to connect if this is the one?
The pics from the thread ( https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-archive-71/fuel-84-85-fuel-pump-relay-trick-597949/ ) that I found this info in are long gone, anyone got an explanation or pics?

If you follow the wiring diagram in the FSM, it shows the shape of the plug connections and the wire colors, It also shows how to add a jumper wire to test the pump with the ignition in the on position and the engine not running or the maf flapper door open on the FI engines.
While the wiring diagram doesn't show the exact position of the relay, there is enough information there to locate it. It's main function is to help prevent flooding in the FI engines, works the same for the carbed versions to a lesser extent. It does not act a an emergency fuel shut of for impact safety, as there is no reset button listed in the FSM.
When you do locate it, post a pic since the other ones are gone from previous threads. If I get a chance this weekend, I'll look at the shell and see if I can locate it since the dash is out.

Well heres what the Haynes manual had to say, I just dont want to beleive it because it requires extensive interior dismantling.
I just said screw it for now and hot-wired my fuel pump straight to the battery because i only have one functioning coil (both are brand new) and i want it on leading.

This is how its done "right" the first time
I have done several but I didnt by-pass anything. Instead, I replaced the relay with a regular fog lights relay and added a toggle switch so I can turn on the pump without starting the motor (for those days when the weed wacker is out of gas). No issues and the relay is added security measure.
