GSL-SE Fuel Pump Pressure

I wanted to replace my fuel pump since is is at least 15 years old and most likely original.
I pulled it out and it bench tested 60 psi.

I have a Carter P70199 that is several years old, but was still sealed in the box. It bench tested 39 psi.

I decided to put the old one back in.

Has anyone used this Carter or any other fuel pump with a pressure that low?

i think the fuel pressure is regulated to 39-40psi, so the carter might work, but just barely.

you have me wondering about how carter tests pumps now, i tested my carb carter pump, and it flows about half what its rated at...

If I remember right, I think the -SE high pressure fuel pump for EFI systems is regulated at 39-40psi at the low end, and when shunted by vacuum pressure under load, this collapses the bulb at the end of the fuel rail, raising the pressure to about 50psi, increasing fuel flow.

Just a guess, but if the Carter fuel pump is only putting out 39psi on the bench, you may or may not get proper operation at the higher pressure. Good luck, either way.
