GSL-SE Fuel Injector Replacements
 

Has anyone bought fuel injectors at the major Auto parts stores and had success with the reman injectors?

I bought some from Autozone: part # MP-50250 for $43 each.

Any other part numbers from other stores that were good injectors?

Don't trust aftermarket parts for some things,injectors are one of them. Been down the road with reman,replacement injectors from parts stores-all of them. Don't want to waste bandwidth or time with all the wrong application,mismatched sets,defect stories and details...so just don't use them.
What is your reason for replacing them? Short of them being physically damaged,i wouldn't-the best ones you can get for a stock application are the ones that came in your car. In my experience(my 2 cents) sending your oe units out to be cleaned/tested would be the 1st choice. For about what you've invested in your parts store injectors,maybe a little more,you can have your oe units reconditioned.

Thanks for the response! I think I'll take the injectors back and check out the rebuilders suggested. Mine have seen 180k miles so I assume they are due for replacing/repair. I had a fuel soaked rotor when I opened my block so I think I had a leak or my injector was dripping rather than misting.

Do you have any specifics of the issues had with the reman injectors? In my research of the forum, I didn't see any other posts on the replacement injectors so I am glad I asked.

Never had a problem with an FI rotary,never used an aftermarket injector in one. My experience in this regard is with piston engines,an injector is an injector no matter what type engine it's in.
Failure faults,both reman and aftermarket new; poor spray pattern, stream like a garden hose nozzle. Completely defective(new from Napa,not their cheap line) installed,turn key to start,acts like battery dead,won't crank over. Reason... 2 of 6 NEW injectors dumped fuel wide open,filled cylinders with fuel and hydro-locked engine. On this particular car this set was a replacement for a set i'd put in 150 miles previously to repair a misfire,subsequently car failed emissions. Diagnostics with pressure drop test showed one of injectors flowed more than the rest,another injector dripped fuel on shutdown.
Some injectors that seeped from actual injector body,not enough fuel to see initially but could smell it. The lost time needed to identify the faults can never be recouped-customer cannot be charged for it=loss or no profit. Enough stories? Time is money, using/dealing with shi**y parts=lost time.
OEM or quality brand name(Bosch) injectors are the way to go for timely consistent results,anything else is a gamble. I don't gamble with my livelihood.

you should just send your originals out for cleaning, that seems to work really well.

reman injectors are just going to be hit and miss, it depends on what was wrong in the first place.

Bought a pair from BAP and IIRC they were called 'Cobra' or something like that. Complete garbage - sold as 'remanufactured', but it looked like someone rebuilt a set and then spray-painted the tips black so they'd look new(er).

I ended up buying another pair because they were cheap and sending them all off to RCEngineering for flow-balance, spray-pattern matching, and cleaning. Out of 6 I sent, guess which 2 came back from RCEngineering ready to be installed after passing all their tests...? The original factory pair that had 180k miles on them.

If you absolutely need new injectors, I'll bet Mazda still has some at exhorbitant pricing, but you'll get a set that work!

I'd second the rebuilding process as well, proven good results will win over buying cheap sets of crappy injectors any day!

Talk to Jim at Injector Repair. He rebuilt three injectors for me (all GSL-SEs), and did a bang-up job. He's my FI guy now.
