GSL SE Federal and California spec oil pans?

What's the difference between Federal and California spec oil pans that were fitted on the GSL SE?

Thanks,
Dwayne

Thanks... Someone selling me a GSL SE oil pan showed me a picture of 2 different oil pans from 2 different GSL SE's... He said that one was Federal spec and the other was California spec... One had a deeper sump with a longer oil return pick up thingy and the other had a more shallow sump with a shorter oil return pick up thingy...

Could this be false info on the sellers part?

If yes which one of these could be the true GSL SE oil pan?

Thanks,
Dwayne

RX-4 13-B oil pans holds more oil than the GSL-SE.

The Federal pan has some sort of a provision for a sensor or something for the sub-zero start assist and the Ca does not.
I was not aware that there was any physical differences in the capacity or the oil pick up tubes.

As Wacky has stated the 74-78 13b pans were larger and also had a longer pick up tube but the Se pans were the same as far as pick up tubes and capacity no matter if
Ca or federal.

I've handled both CA and fed GSL-SE pans and yep there is one sensor on one version and two sensors on the other.

As for the capacity difference between early pans and GSL-SE, it's not that big a difference. Less than a quart.
