gsl-se 12a swap

so recently posted about my other SE so dont get these confused

ok so i have a Se blown engine no compression on rear i have a 12a stock that i want to put in to this rex

i need to know how i should install iv heard of
spacers for the front cover to front cover mount (idk if that se member or 12a)
just using a 12a crossmember
and flipping the Se member

then what wiring i might need for a stock set up
and anything i can use off the gsl-se

i may go with one of the dcoe or ida set ups i have laying around how much would this simplify things?

I've done it. Spacers and long bolts are the best solution. Use 20mm or 3/4" of spacers (three 1/4" aluminum plates worked really well). The bolts are 10mm x 1.5 thread pitch. They need to be longer than the stock ones by obviously 20mm. Try to get them close. If necessary, buy longer ones and cut.

only part of the SE u can use is the ign wiring. u'll need fpr to bring the pressure down to run a carb cause the SE intake and related wont fit the 12a.

Another piece of info for the OP. The GSL-SE and 12A front mount bar are the same. The GSL-SE motor mount pedestals were moved 20mm forward to fit the longer engine. This is why you need to add some spacers and longer bolts. Any other course of action is not ideal.

^Except to change the GSLSE crossmember to a 12A. The crossmember under the engine is the difference between 12A and 13B stock mounting. Jeff's way is much easier since the lower control arms mount to that crossmember and can be very interesting to remove.

so ok let me get this straight a 20mm spacer for the front cover to engine bar mount and everything will mount in?? that will be nice beacause this isnt a permenant swap i just need somthing to drive around in for a while till i get some things figured out on my other SE as 74Rx4 already knows and ill just throw a dcoe up on the 12a so i can keep my harness intact in case the old engine is pretty easly rebuilt and not torn up inside

I figured a 12A in a GSL-SE was just going to be a temporary thing. No way would I ever condone throwing a 12A crossmember in a GSL-SE car. No way. :)

So yes a 20mm spacer and some longer bolts in the correct thread pitch are all you need. I could only find some that needed to be shortened. No problem. Hacksaws work well. :) Don't be surprised if they have 17mm heads. Most aftermarket bolts in this 10mm size do.

Take a stock bolt with you when you go to get new long bolts. Also a way to measure it for 3/4" or 20mm more. If it's too long, that's fine. If it's too short, even by a little bit, choose the long one and cut it.
