If you let the gas dry, it will hurt the paint.

3M makes adhesive remover. Try that. I have. It works, but you must give it time to WORK first then peel away carefully. Also, be sure its not really hot or cold out when you use it for best results.

Well, I've got a guy that does some awesome paint work... I'm not gonna get it fixed just yet though, I'm ordering a couple things from Mariah, so I'll paint everything at the same time.... It's really too bad... the paint on the car is BEAUTIFUL.... gotta love California cars.....

next time get out the heat gun (or hair dryer) and warm the molding up first.

Wankelguy 11-25-02 11:34 AM

Do all first gens have glued-on molding?

MyRxBad 11-25-02 01:19 PM

It should only be put on w/double sided 3m type tape.

faye x7 11-25-02 01:45 PM

You could use..like a super glue or sumtin I guess. I used some 3m double sided outdoor tape...it has been through the cold, rain and heavy snow and salted roads and it's holding just fine.

yeah gasoline is a bitch on that molding.. i carry a rag around and hold it under the door when taking the fuel nozzle in and out.
