Grocery shopping for turbo

So I bought a 1980 rx7 with a 1988 rx7 13b swapped into it. The engine it powered by a weber side draft carb, it's nice but not what I want.
I'm going with a turbo from a T2 but I don't know what all I need. Stock parts will be used except the intercooler and the intake.
Can you guys give me a list of what all I need or should use? Like stock turbo, intake manifold, aftermarket ecu or stock?
What fuel pump should I buy. I currently have a noisy performance pump but I want something quieter.
I appreciate any input. Thanks. :)

So, Duffman a fellow member here gave me some depressing news. I need to figure out if my 13b is a 4 port or a 6 port before I can move on with my idea. -_-

Why? Both can be turbocharged....

To determine what parts I'm going to have to purchase.
For a 6-port motor a 4-port manifold will have to be modified.
I don't know what all parts I'm going to have to get.
Actually go through with this isn't my problem, there are enough threads to carry me through with the build.
A 6-port engine has higher compression than the 4-port, can I lower the compression? Is a 6 port engine any better than the 4-port?

Originally I though I would just be able to purchase second hand T2 parts and just bolt them on.

Sgt.Stinkfist 10-12-13 03:33 PM

All FC intake manifolds have the same bolt pattern. So regardless off which engine you have you will want to use a t2 LIM if you are gonna run a stock turbo and exhaust manifold. They won't be a direct bolton with a NA LIM, and will need a spacer on the exhaust to clear it. If your block is a 6port, it'll be best to fill in the casting indents on the t2 LIM gasket surface and port it to match the 6 port runners. For the most part if you already have an FC engine, it will be 95% sourcing t2 parts anr bolting them on

There are a lot of people who succesfully run the higher compression rotors with out problem. You just have to keep it in mind when tuning to pay special attention to timing

Alright good. Aaron Cake did a right up on modifying the t2 manifold to work on a 6port. If I tear the engine down for a rebuild can I use seals that work with a turbo setup or is that a bad idea? I would see why not but I would rather ask than get burnt.

Redliner223 10-12-13 10:13 PM

If I don't want to use the t2 stock exhaust what are my options?

Sgt.Stinkfist 10-13-13 12:25 PM

Assuming the engine has decent compression, and no starting issues, you can leave the insides alone. Seals and main rotating parts. The seals were the same between turbo and NA. One thing to change that is kinda internal, would be the oil pump, as it would be more ideal to swap out for a turbo one. If you don't want to use the stock turbo exhaust, then you will pretty much be either making your own turbo manifold or buying one, which will be 20x as expensive as buying a stock one, and vrtually all aftermarket manifolds are made for standard flanges like t3 or t4, and not for the old stock mazda turbo

Alright.
Sounds easy enough.

I'll buy that weber...... :-)

Webers look cool but are expensive.

Blow through is what I'm doing.
Cheap EFI would be about $2000 roughly.

The big question. Is a stock 4 port capable of making more hp than a stock 6port.
I think the 6 port is better until you get into modifying the ports.
A ported 4 port is always better. But the 6 ports seem to flow more air stock.

I'm the best with carbs if you have questions.

Anyone ever told you that you know just enough to be dangerous?

Alright so it is a 4port with a street port.
My question still stands. What do I need for stock t2 setup? I have the lower intake porting. Lol
