good reliable HP
 

alright im hoping to have 2 7's on the road by fall one my daily driver will be a 81w/12a my weekend and track car will be the 84 13b i am looking for good reliable hp for both no no2 im thinking 12a streetported with new carbs and dsl rear posible light boost

13b thinken stport or bridgeport maybe turbo but at the moment it has webber side draft carbs duel fuel pumps light weight fly wheel and pullys, not sure about porting on the motor i looking to get 300+hp
i just want a car thats got balls but doesn't need a rebuild ever 10k


is 150-200hp too much to expect of a 12a
and what kinda hp can i get from the 13b

i see you guys talk about street ports and bridge ports but i really dont see to much on how reliable these engines are after doing this mod work and feul econemy after the work i realise that any intake and carb mods are going to reduce mpg but too what extent? i mean is a brige port gonna break the bank for gas(less that 15mpg)?

Street ports are more reliable than bridge. And you will get less than 15mpg on bridge.

And you will not hit 300 HP on a streetport without nitrous or boost with a 12A...:(

im not looking for that kinda hp from the 12a i just want that as a good every day car i'd like to get that from my track car with the 13b

i see that most people are doing there own stports. is it hard to do other than being carfull? i have all the tools i could need motor lift and stand air diegrinder and a highspeed dremal tool, anybody in the area have stport templates i could borrow, rent or buy

any other tools i might need besides spare grinder bits?

I am NOT being a prick, but the most valuable tool on THIS forum, is punctuation and grammar, IMHO. Just spend the extra minute or two making your posts look good, and you'll get more responses.

Now, back to the topic: If you're looking to do just a mild port on the 12A, you shouldn't need a template really. Just open it up slightly and smooth it out. With a good carb and proper tuning, you'll make close to 200hp without a question. Something a lot of people overlook is to port the intake manifold too. Even if you buy an RB manifold, you might want to check it to make sure it's completely smooth. Anyone ever ported an RB manifold before?

You do not smooth out the inside of an intake manifold. They make it rough to create turbulance, to keep the air and fuel mixed.
