Good news for 1st gen gamers

if u guys were let down by gt4 not having our cars, the new racing game called enthusia wont let you down. i just played it and it was pretty damn fun. just a heads up if no one knew about it.

woodonastick 05-09-05 02:32 AM

Did'nt Savanna's have the mirrors up on the front fenders? Otherwise it looks real cool. Its also labelled as a GT, but it has 85 GSL-SE rims.

MosesX605 05-09-05 10:22 AM

It's probably the 1st gen Turbo. I believe that they shared suspension with the SE models we got here in NA.

:withstupi

What Moses said. In Japan the whole first gen line was called "Savannah", they all had SA in the VIN and the 84-85 highest model was the GT 12aTurbo instead of the 13bNA GSL-SE that we got.

Yes, we tend to call the 79-80 models with the funky taillights, bumpers and side mouldings "Savannah" if they have the front mounted mirrors and come in that Savannah Green colour, but that's just us.

So basically, it means that the game is more accurate than we are sometimes... IF the car is meant to be J-Spec.

Just noticed:

If you look really closely at the drifting pic, you can see a faint outline of the steering wheel on the Right Hand Side :)

Even if it is not 100% accurate, at least it is in the game. Thats far better than most other games completely ignoring the entire 1st gen line.
I see it has the lip spoiler, wish mine did..........

vipernicus42 05-09-05 10:56 AM

But it IS 100% accurate... as long as you're not a closed-minded American who thinks that HIS version of the car is the one that should have been included ;)

It's a GT Turbo from Japan, pretty much a GSL-SE with a 160hp Turbo 12a instead of the 13b, and over there all 1st gens were called a SA22C.

John64 05-09-05 12:19 PM

Thanks guys. More info then i had before. Still looks awesome!

Savanna RX-7 GT-X 05-09-05 12:29 PM

Not the first time the SA has been in games. Sega GT 2002 and Sega GT Online both have it, all of the Tokyo Xtreme Race games(except the GBA title) have it also. Auto Modellista also has it.

Rogue_Wulff 05-09-05 12:44 PM

Let me clarify what I meant:
Even if it is not 100% accurate for U.S. models, it's at least in the game. Most games just totally ingore the first gen completely, in spite of the back to back to back (ect) IMSA GTU championships.
I realise that the U.S. models are not the only versions that were made.
MMMMM 12at

damn, theres lots of rotary power in those pictures, i just browsed through em all, and id say about a 1/4 of the pictures were rx-7's or rx-8's

looks like a sweet game

RustyRotary 05-09-05 03:48 PM

I don't really think ignore is the word, at least in GT4's case. I'm still convinced that there is some other reason behind GT4's lack of a 1G that doesn't involve the developer being uninterested in the car. The game has a Honda LIFE STEP VAN for crying out loud. There has to be something else behind it.

And yeah, it makes sense that a Japanese game (Konami) uses the best version of the Japanese vehicle. Although tuning is very limited in Enthusia, it has downhill touge courses that GT4 doesn't include. Even though it's not as realistic as GT4 in terms of physics and graphics, it's still worth the money.
