Gone for two weeks and now the seven wont start?

I went to Europe for 2 weeks (I drove on the autobahn), and no one started up my car every once and a while like i asked, when I returned i found it would not start up. The battery is good (optima) and i have enough fuel. I'm gonna try spraying some starting fluid in the carb tommorow morning, but i thought id check to see if this has happened to anyone else. and if it helps, when i try to start it up the tach needle starts going crazy jumping to 2 then 0 then 2 then 0...

on a seperate note check out this short clip of me trying to snowboarding for the first time is the swiss alps...

just check for the basics and go from there. fuel and spark have been the problems i have had. i left mine on stands for about a week and the leading ignitor just quit for some reason. hope you get it running again.

haha wow dude. snowboarding was frustrating at first, but you soon catch on. I've gotten hooked and been riding every sunday this season and part of last, but no riding for the next month because mono is lame! haha I had a fall like that last weekend, i tore myself a new butthole.
But with the 7, the steps I do take and will take when necessary are the following.

Fuel delivery; Got fuel? Pull the line going into the carb and put it into a bucket, crank the car and if fuel comes out at an even pace you should be alright. There's a procedure in the Haynes to make sure it's flowing enough.

Power/spark; My car had sat off and on for weeks/months and shouldn't have, but drained the battery some. Get a jump start. Check your coils. I think I should replace mine. Also check your spark plugs.

Compression; probably not the problem if it ran 2 weeks ago, but can't hurt to check.

Those are the 3 things necessary. Maybe it could be a random dead starter?

If I let mine sit for more than a couple of weeks, it will usually flood out on me when I try to start it. The only way I've been able to start it at that point is to clean the plugs off, then dump a couple of ounces of ATF into the primary barrels of the carb. Floor it and crank it until it catches. Works every time.

ok thanks everybody. I think ill clean the spark plugs and maybe just replace them anyway. Also i might try this famous second gen coil setup woith transistor trick. thanks again

I had good results using a shot or two of starting fluid.

same here-

I left it from november till mid january and it started right up and ran like a champ. It could probably even set longer. I guess are cars just like us more.
