Unhappy Going insane!!!! Help 84 gsl-se 13b

ok...I have worked over this damn thing with a fine tooth comb. I have a 1984 GSL-SE/13B non turbo, 145K miles. I had it driving 2 weeks ago after a year long partial mechanical restore (next comes the body...Oh joy). New plugs, new wire, new distro and roter, new coils. Engine completely rebuilt (Props to the Guys at Adkins Rotary in Puyallup WA). Removed Curise, and installed aftermarket air filter. Completely replaced the rats nest with new tubing. Haven't really tweaked much on the engine since it was rinning just fine for about a week.

Parked it when I came home 2 weeks ago and the next day it started up fine and idled for about 5 mins then died. I let it sit for 30mins and it started up again.....2 mins later it died. Didn't step on the gas or anything.....just dies and wouldn't start. Next day same thing......Day after that It won't even start anymore. It turns over and sounds like it really wants to start. Whats even more odd is that I started smelling fuel and found a puddle leaking from the connections between the header, exhaust, and cat back. It is acting like it has a vacume leak but I haven't been able to find one.....I am at my whits end and its starting to get expensive

if you have a fuel leak on the right side of the engine, i would check the injector's o-rings and grommets for leaks as well as inspect the pulsation damper for a leak

Did you have the injectors sent out for cleaning while the engine was being rebuilt? If not, do so. Leaky injectors may not be your only problem but it will eliminate the flooding so you can find the rest of your problems.

It smells like fuel and its sooty. Also I replaced the seals on the injector and diffusers.....learned that the diffusers are kind of necessary.....hmmmmm now that I think of it I will check them again.....had the same problem when I forgot to install the diffusers. Thanks Trochoid.....I might as well have the injectors cleaned while I have them out and check the pulsation damper as well.

More wonderful news is my ignitors are also dead!!!!! AAAHHHHH one thing after the next...thinking of using T.G.Farrell's TFIDFIS once I have this leak issue under control... Thanks guys I will keep you posted

if you are consiering having the injectors seviced, www.witchhunter.com is an excellent place and the turn around time is usually less than a week. if i were to send my injectors there on monday, i'd usually have them by saturday. great service and fair pricing.

Thanks for the site Mazdaverx, boxed the injectors and sent them out this morning.....hopefully shouldn't take them too long since they are only 70 miles away......

I checked the pulsation damper and no leak.....I am inclined to agree that it may be the injectors...We shall see. In the mean time I started putting together and wiring up the TFIDFIS last night. keep your fingers crossed.

As long as you stay in the first gen section, lol.

I keep hearing good things about witchhunter. I'm planning to send my injectors out in the next few week. Tell me how it turns out.
