So, Dr. What do you put in your stock rear? I cant seem to find Strait non-syn 70-90. . Will the semi synthetic do damage to my trans or rear?

None whatsoever. I run Royal Purple synthetic fluid in my engine, tranny, and diff. You won't have any problems.

you run Syn in the engine?? well i dont agree with that move( Oil burning Engine). But thanks for your input. How long since you put it in the rear and tranny?

Some synthetic motor oil works in our cars. Amsoil and Royal Purple do just fine. Even the mechanics I take my car to say it'll do no harm and they've worked on RX-7's for over 20 years.

Do some searching in regards about synthetic oils in our engines. You'll get a lot of results.

I've been running my current set for over 1 1/2 years. No problems whatsoever and my engine is healthy as a horse.

Royal purple burns clean if i recall correctly....thats why its one of the few syn. oils we can use in rotarys.

AMSoil in the tranny, and rear end.

Agreed...i believe this is the best for our trans and rear ends.

I use Redline synthetic. The stuff is made specifically for LSD. It is so slippery, that there is no special additive required.

I might get some of that. I just had the oil changed and the showed me the tranny and diff "drip" on a laminate card. The diff oil was like watery black with bubbles ... total crap. I think redline sounds good for it.

Synthetic oils are great. Yeah you'll find alot, and I do mean alot of info back a forth between it's good and it's not good and so forth. Whoever says it is not good for a Rotary does not have all of the facts but are partially right. Higher end synthetics, including Royal Purple, will be fine in a Rotary and has been done by myself and others on the forum to great success. Synthetic in the gearboxes should be madatory! LOL But if you don't want to use synthetic in the boxes find just regular 80-90 GL-5 or 75-140.

There is a new write up in the rotary performance section. BTW ROYAL PURPLE WAS ONE OF THE ONLY ONES TO FAIL NEARLY ALL TESTS PERFORMED. AMSOIL was by far the best choice!

Seeing as how Amsoil performed the test, judging by the link. Sorry, but I'll care for a non-biased study done by a company that has no affiliation with one product or the other.

And, I'm going to go with my rotary mechanics who've had over 20 years in the rotary business and trust what they have to say: Royal Purple is good. :icon_tup:

Seeing as how my setup has been running strongly for over 1.5 years, I'd say it's doing just fine.

omg for like $25 you can get conversion kit so that you have a separate reservoir for the injectors... then you run two stroke to the injectors and syth in the reservoir... wow what an amazing idea... Stop arguing and buy it...

Oh and 1.5 years is hardly reliable by any stretch... not that I have anything against synthetics but if every one of a certain car ran for a year and a half and then crapped out with an unrepairable problem would you call that car reliable?

I've used both redline and AMSoil and personally like the AMSoil better. Own experience no one else.

Also for the people wanting to run synthetic in their engines, the best for synthetic would be Idemitsu, they have a specially formulated oil just for rotary engines. They basically designed it for the 787 leman car and have been producing it for the rotary public since then. Look if up if you don't believe me just google "idemitsu rotary". They even produce one if you want to run it just in the engine, and another one specially formulated for the people wanting to run premix.

Hey, I asked all around to verify RP was good to use in my engine before I used it. I didn't ask hobos down the street, I did my own research, then went ahead and did it. All I want to do is make sure my engine runs great. :)

For the record, in my belief, I feel that over a year and a half is a good start. I'm not that knowledgeable on the rotary engine with what to run on it and the like, so all I can do is ask people that I know that have been in the field long enough to not bullshit me. I *figured* that if Royal Purple was not a good thing to run in my engine, the engine would've crapped out a long time ago with all the abuse and wear that has gone through it.

I've only had this car for 2 years and ran the synthetic in it for slightly less than that. It just makes me happy that the motor still runs strong.

LOL I am not saying anything to knock you so relax. Did you bother to read the last few pages? It was a certified SAE/military standards test by independents. So what if Amsoil paid for it?! They simply knew they had a better product. I have nothing to gain by posting the link, other that to help out the thread starter. See the results and read the last pages for yourself, and try not to be so closeminded.....LMAO at the filter patch for RP........RP scored 12th out of 14 BTW.

Hey, if Amsoil is much better (and that's a lot of reading), I know a place that stocks it. Next oil change, I'll pick some up.

you have to remember this is a gear lube test ... not for putting it in the engine. 2 totaly different things.

Heh, sorry, but I didn't read through it all. To be honest, I'm a tad lazy but have so many things I'm doing at the moment. *L* Ahh, so many excuses I know.

It all good...... I didnt think mobil 1 would do so good. I have had nothing but problems with that stuff. I am running NEO fluids at the moment. But after reading I will be swapping in amsoil as it becomes due. BTW I cant afford to run amsoil motor oil, the amsoil products are mucho denero.
