Fusible links and thier ratings
 

I'm in the process of replacing the fusible links with a 2nd gen fuse box. I've been clear through the FSM and cannot find any specs on what the rating for the links are. They are designated as 0.3 sq. for the retractor and headlight links and 1.25 sq. for the Main. I have no clue what that designation is or means or how it relates to amperage.

Any help with this mystery will be appreciated. I don't want to 'over fuse' and have the wiring burn up before the fuse does.

Thanks for the link, I have read those, apparently I missed the 20-30 amp for the headlight and retractors. I'll be running an 80 main with the S4 alternator.

I have 30's, I may pick up some 20's and try those to see if they will hold. I had to make my own bracket, due to the strut bar.

So does anyone know what the sq. is? I'm still curious about this designation, for posterity of course. :D

Trochoid: I think it has to do with the way that they size regualar wire over here they have 2 ways via mm2, (millimeter squared) for small wires and then AWG for larger wires (8 guauge and up) a small wire that is say 18 gauge over here is sold as .75 mm2 and so forth, I would guess that they are refereing to its millimeter thickness squared or some such wierd shit .

That makes sense, now to find the the secret 'formula' that relates wire size to amperage, and I'll venture a guess that the wire in the links are not the common copper wire used everywhere else.

I can't remember the fuse values off the top of my head, but you end up have two extra open fuses for goodies if you have EFI, more if you run a carb. As you can see I also have a strut bar, but the factory mounting bracket worked awesome with minimal trimming near the fender.

Got it installed with no problems. Still curious about the amp ratings though.
