fuel pump relay is there one?

is there a fuel pump relay on a 84 gs? iv'e tried calling local auto parts stores and they can't pull anything up. The dealership hung up on me. I can't find anything in my book. can someone help me out? if there is one where is it? would it make my fuel pressure fluctuate? If not what would? Thanks in advance.

PM me if you find out. I just purchased a "dead" 85 GS. The fuel pump is definitely not working, and I started to trace the wiring to see if it was getting power. They Haynes manual indicates there is one under the dash by the fuse block, but I have not found it yet.

check around the steering shaft and up...i am not sure of the location, but there is one. I have a relay if you need one.

It's also controlled by the computer under the passenger footwell.

Since I didn't want to hassle with all that, I used the amp 12v always on power to connect a switch to the fuel pump (hell, the amp is right next to the connection to the fuel pump). It's a manual switch, but it's a hell of a lot less expensive than trying to get a new computer...

Yes there is. The ECU activates the relay to turn off the pump. I guess thats why they call it a fuel pump cut relay.

If you want more info, go to schematic B-1 for the 84 12a at:

Fuel Pump Relay - FOUND

Scott,

Thanks for the pointer. On my '85 automatic, it's just to the right of the steering column. The diagrams on iluvmyrx7.com were a big help.

I was able to verify juice going to the fuel pump, and so the fuel pump is, in fact, bad.
