Fuel Pump Recommendation

I got a Holley Red fuel pump for my 83 with a 12A after the stock pump died. It is LOUD! The super obnoxious sound drowns out my Racing Beat exhaust. Any recommendations on a fuel pump that will deliver for a hogged out Nikki that is quiet as stock or close?

I have a "fat" Nikki from Jeff 20B. I run a Carter P60504. It works great, stock pump would not keep up with carb.

How is your Holley Red mounted? My Carter P4594(you'll want a pressure regulator as well) was super loud on my 85 when I had it mounted directly to a frame rail. When I got my 79 I ended up using a foam rubber pad to isolate it from the car's chassis on both sides of the mount and didn't mount it to the rail. I added a piece of mylar(plasitc) in case the rubber absorbed water so it wouldn't be pressed up against the car and cause rust.
Pump is barely audible now.https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...cfb332c894.jpg

Thanks for the replies! I have it mounted to the body where the stock pump was using the rubber that came with it. I have read other places that the Red is louder than most. Maybe I'll give the carter with the custom rubber a try.

I use an MSD 2225. It is kinda loud, but you cannot hear it with the car running unless you really try. Make sure you have a good return line because it moves some major fuel.

I think it could mount in the stock location, but I have it tucked a little bit higher for some reason.

I have an MSD 2225 and it was loud until I added some rubber standoff mounts. It took a bit of engineering. And I'll echo what Qingdao said about a good return line if you choose to use this pump. The instructions say it needs a 3/8" return line. It does need one. But you might get lucky with a 5/16". Maybe.

You need to isolate it. Carter 4070 I had was the same. Went back to my dual Facet setup I had with my Dellorto.

I've had both the holley red and the carter 4070 installed on my car and the holley was waaaaaay louder. I can still hear the carter over the idling engine, but I have it mounted in the stock spot with just the rubber that came with it. Definitely prefer the carter.

think carter p74016 would be sufficient?

for a stock 12A the stock pump is just fine, its quiet, pressure is steady as a rock...
