Fuel door kicker question (interchange)

My car needs a kicker... actually it's needed a kicker for six or seven years. It's finally pissing me off enough to do something about it.

Atkins has the FC kicker... and Miata NB kicker... and NC kicker... and they all look like what the FB kicker looks like.

Has anyone tried using one of these in a Series 3?

I also need to replace the button since some dumbass ripped the button off trying to pop the hatch (huh??) but I'll just use a generic button for that.

the FC and Miata are both cable operated. that being said, i just had both apart to get the cables and both mechanisms (FC and Miata) looked the same. been a while since i have seen an FB one though..

FB is electric. It's also buried to where you can't actually see it, but it *feels* like the FC/Miata units. Maybe there's a separate cable pull?

I need the kicker in part because mine is siezed.

Er, nevermind. It stopped raining so I went outside and had a feel around in the car.

It's COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

Another reason to own an SA, no kicker.

Didn't even know what one was until you posted this. I learned something today! Done.

The list of reasons why the SA is superior is long indeed.

I couldn't stomach the thought of racing one, though. I'd keep it stock and rub it with a diaper.

peejay, I have several FB fuel doors and associated parts out in the parts shed, if you'll post or send a picture of exactly what you need I'll dig out what I have and see if it works for you.

It's the bit in the body with the plunger that the electrical bit yanks back on so the springloaded door can spring out.

Is this it? I might have the "button" too, if I knew what it is. Got a pic?

No, it's missing. It's a pull button on the left underdash in the same cubbyhole as the hatch release button.

That does look like what my fingers say it looks like. Two M6, maybe M5 threaded holes on the business end?

ray green 06-06-16 07:03 PM

Yes there are two threaded holes on the business end, M6 or M5 I can't say.

If you're talking about that thing in the dash, yes I'm sure I've got one, I'll dig it out.

i bought gas for the Rx8 today, and i notice that it uses a similar enough gubbins to the miata/FC, cable driven.
