Ford 8.8 rear end???

I've been asking around for a good rear end converesion for my FB. So far it seems like the 5 lug Ford 8.8 rear end w/ disc brakes seems to be the ticket. Does anyone have one of these?? I need a sturdy drive train because i plan on putting a boosted 13b cosmo engine with a Turbo II tranny. Now if i put the 5 lug in the rear i need to convert the front end into a 5 lug too. the 2nd gen has the same 4.5in bolt pattern as the ford rear end. What is required for the front end to make the swap?

For the fronts to get the same bolt pattern, you should go with Respeeds TII big brake kit. Then you need to get TII hubs and a couple of other odds and ends (Billy is an awesome guy and he will go out of his way to make sure you know what you need to get the job done).

As for the rear end, I have one in my car. Grannysspeedshop 8.8" rear end kit, heim links, adjustable watts linkage, wilwood big brake kit with 4 piston calipers and drum brake style parking brake. One thing that I can mention off the bat that kind of sucks is that you will have a different bolt thread pattern for the front and rear unless you change the wheel studs in the rear.

The setup I am running is pretty pricey and I am sure you could replicate it for cheaper but alot more fabrication work will be required. Cost for my setup, rear end, 4.444 gears, 31 spline axles, shortened rear end (to stock GSL-SE length), and wilwood brakes was about $3500-4000.

Also you are going to need a custom drive shaft (if you were not already aware...), I still need to find out what the bolt thread pitch and size is for the rear end to driveshaft though.

Heres a couple of pictures of my rear setup. Note it is sitting high at the moment I need shorter springs in the rear.

Hope that helps.
