Compression test results? Just cause its whooshing doesnt mean its enough. I am glad to hear it though.

and how

Sure you don't want to put some ATF in there?

(j/k)

Let the Power Foam sit in the motor as long as your patience will allow and then start it and drive it at highway speeds for at least an hour to be sure that the slot gets cleaned out real good. Make sure to buy a lottery ticket on the way home, you lucky...

wwilliam54 01-29-04 06:55 PM

hehe
im driving it home saturday
ill get a ride back to my college place
and let it soak all week

when i drive it back, its an hour drive

Ya know.... I heard antifreeze is really good for cleaning valves and unsticking piston rings . . . ;)

I had 6 strong wooshes - and had 25 compression all around. Hook up the gauge and find out. It's so much better to be safe than sorry.

Is this power foam better than the water treatment?

Water doesn't do a damned bit of anything unless you're adding the water under full load.

I don't trust anything by Amsoil (Am Soil) because of their shady business practices. However, if you use any serious decarbonizer on a rotary you MUST follow it up with a lube bath (teaspoonish of ATF/MMO/motor oil just like unflooding) because it WILL wash away the oil embedded in the rotor housing surface and compression will go to shit for a little while. Found that out the hard way. :)

What would you consider a serious decarbonizer? I have reason to believe that my motor has some intense carbon and I've tried everything to try and get it clean, do you have any other products that might work.

Wankelguy 01-31-04 04:21 PM

Amsoil Power Foam or Techron concentrate.
I'm not fond of Amsoil's multi-level marketing, myself.
But I'd hardly call them shady, in fact they are about the most forthright company when it comes to information about their products. But I've been using Power Foam for about ten years now, and I can fully recommend it with no reservations.

grantmac 01-31-04 06:00 PM

Man I wish we had that stuff around here. As far as I can tell it's impossible to get anything really effective for clearing carbon up here in Canada, that and the lack of MMO is brutal.

Where do I get Amsoil Power Foam?

Wankleguy talks highly of it. Napa and autozone does not carry it.

do you pour it down the car or put it in the spark plug hole and bump the starter and pour some more in?

wwilliam54 01-31-04 09:21 PM

soaking in atf for a week since mississippi doesnt have any powerfoam apparantly

atf does work in my experence, just not the best

rx-7ames 01-31-04 11:07 PM

have any of you read the thread about cleaning the carbon out with water. i personally have never done it but i don't think i have a big carbon build up problem. if all the recomended cleaning stuff is hard to find where you are then maybe you could try the water treatment.

i did that like a week before my seals stuck
it did nothing

bliffle 01-31-04 11:44 PM

Geez, you guys. Just add 4 to 8 oz. of MMO to every tankful and it works fine.
