Use a torch(takes a while with propane but will work) to heat the gear all the way around, pry up with a screw driver, carefully and evenly, warm it up again or immediatly put it on the new flywheel, once again carefully and evenly, may require some tapping/hammering, tap around the ring just not one spot.

Yeah heat the ring gear up evenly. You hold one torch, have a friend hald another and just keep passing the flame around the ring gear till you are able to tap it off. Tap it off...evenly. And heres an idea: Clamp onto the Ring gear with a pair of Channel Locks...so you can use em like a handle.

channel locks wtf?

Just pry, just a little, move down, pry a little, move down pry a little, move down pry a little, prying the entire ring off evenly. You don't want to strech it.
If you try to heat it so that it just slides right off, you'll be there all day.

If you could just warm it up and pull it off with pliars it wouldn't be a tight enough fit not to turn on the flywheel when you try to start it.

A lot of people still like to tack weld them after pressing on.(this applys to all flywheels but probably not neccesary unless it's a higher compression engine that's hard to turn)
