flywheel chang ??????

Ok i have a 1982 with an auto and im converting to 5 speed. so i got a 1983 engine and tranny so i then find out that an 83 flywheel is not conpadiable with a 82 my ? is what all is needed to fun a 83 flywheel in an 82 you need to chang out the rear counter wieght or both front and rear or is it front and rotors and rear.

there is no rear counterweight with a manual trans. the flywheel acts as the counterweight. you need a flywheel from a 79-82. using a flywheel from an 83-85 will result in rotor bearing failure.

so what if i used a 83 frunt flywheel and a 83 frunt counter wight?

The counter weights are balanced with the weight of the rotors. You can use the rear counter weight that came with the automatic transmission and a lightweight aftermarket flywheel if you've got the money for an aftermarket flywheel. If not the only answer is a 79-82 flywheel.

I have several 81-82 stock flywheels if you are interested. But for pick up only. Located between Dodger Stadium and Hollywood.
