flow through carb custom turbo setup

hey

i'm wanting to do a custom (cheap) turbo setup to my carb 13b

i wanna use stock internals (because i'm cheap) so i'd prolly go for a small turbo as any more than a little boost would prolly destroy the engine rite?

so here is the idea

secondhand prices (aussie dollars)

wastegate approx $120
intercooler $60 - $250
carb (sidedraft or 650 holley) $100 - $300
(small to moderate size) turbo $80 - $300
exhaust manifold (series 4) $50 - $90
piping $50
fabricarion $100? from non performance shop welding
tuning > $200
oil and fuel pump $200

upper cost = $1500 ish?

i've got some friends that can help with the tuning, and some of the fabrication... but most i was going to try to do myself

have i forgotten anything??
i'm willing to give the intercooling a miss for the time being to save money....

any thoughts??

thanks heaps

oh, and what do you think of this, would it help... do i need different manifolds to attach a different carb?

To make things easier for you, just get the whole turbo assembly from a TII. Use that exhaust manifold with the flapper valve removed, and port the wastegate until the hole is just as big as the flapper. You should be able to get the stock TII turbo, wastegate, and manifold for ~$250-$300.

If you want a cheap intercooler that will work good, buy 2 stock TII intercoolers, cut off one end tank on each one, and weld the 2 cores together.

Go to a junkyard and find a Volvo Turbo... they have massive intercoolers, and are always in great shape(protected by ac condenser and radiator) They fit real well in the stock radiator location too.
