swap to FC front suspension.......

I have yet to do it, but i dont think i will be disopinted..

oh yeah, people are usually rotary fanatics.... and the taking a rotary out and dumping pistons in, put your flame suit on....

I dont see what the big fucking deal with that is.... i mean, every car is here to serve a purpose..... if your purpose is to run a commmon engine for speed in a light wieght good handling cheap to find car...... thats one purpose... to each his own!!!

laters, Andrew

Where the hell did that come from? Who mentioned V8 swap???

firstgenv8 09-16-03 10:09 AM

yeah well i have 2 other rx7's and this ones motor blew and i had a v8 around and someone told me about that kit to put the v8 in so i said, ah what the heck ill do it......what all do you have to do to change to the fc front suspension?

Psssst rotarygod, look at his name...;)

Ok,no matter what brakes you end up with use a quality pad and I like ss lines personally. You could also beef up the firewall around the pedal to reduce flex if your rules allow for more consistent threshold braking. Fo a drag car, where youll need a pad that works good cold I'd reccomend Hawk HPS or HP+, both excellent hi po street autox pads. Also when fitting non-standard brakes and especially since your adding weight to the front end with your engine swap an adjustable brake prop valve would be adviseable.

hahahaha, you made me double check to see if i was seeing shit, lmao....

but, yeah, thats cool...... the fc swap, probably refresh your whole brake system, two bolts on the front subframe bolt in, the rear two you have to drill holes, you have to get steering shaft and knuckles to hook up the steering, and the put a tube feeding into each other on the power steering lines....

then do somthing with springs.... heh...

there is a write up somewhere..... omid i think was his name..... not screen name.... let me see if i can find the thread....

Well, I won't comment on the V8 stuff, as that wasn't his question, and we had some wars before ;)
"FC suspension-swap"? As far as I know that's impossible... Well, all is possible, but it ain't exactly easy.
I know a fellow-rotorhead in Germany who's FB has a complete FC engine bay (yep, with TII engine, r&p steering, suspension...) but I don't suppose you feel like cutting out your cars front end and weld in a FC one do you? Otherwise the FC suspension is way too diffrent: struts are longer, steering on the front instead of on the rear of the hubs, etc... At the rear it's even more different: Live axle for SA/FB, independant suspension for FC.
It's possible to use FC brakes, but it'll require some fabrication aswell.
Easiest would be to use GSL-SE brakes, as they were the best stock brakes the first gen RX7's got in the USA.
