filter questions

G'day,

I'm planning to replace all filters/fluids in my new GSL-SE and would like to know - is a K&N filter any improvement over stock, either power or sound wise? And what is the best oil filter to use?

Thanks

J

Dunno on the filter for a SE.

But the oil I use 10w-40 (cold/winter) 20w-50 summer (hot)

I only use geniune mazda filters...

Sound wise with the K&N no increase. Flow is advertised to be better, and also longevity. If there is an increase it's so minimal could't detect when driving.
Good investment.
Oil filters-I suggest you do a search-Upper right-You'll find a lot of interesting & informative threads.
My opinion, use a quality oil and filter, change often (3,000) and you'll be fine.

I dropped a K&N into my SE - can't say there's more power, but I did feel an increase in responsiveness i.e. when I'm accelerating and the engine needs air NOW the K&N lets more through.

Still have a K&N for an SE in perfect shape. $35 US. PM me if you want it.

If I can sell it, I may just have to buy one of those nice stereo surrounds that someone around here is selling. ;)
