LOL, sore subject.

my main reason for having a sub is that it keeps me from buying new speakers to replace the stock ones. but i hate my box rolling when im taking a turn to fast and i want somthing thats better looking and that i can take out easier.

No, no. I saw your thread. I was real sorry to hear you lost so much. I just thought the insurance company would have paid you by now and you'd be working on something new. Hope it works out!
Good luck! DD |

has anyone done a design with something like 2 10's facing the back of the seats? i think it would be an interesting design? what do you guys think ?

just a quick mock up on autocad i'm pretty sure something close to those dimensions could fit in there.
If you notice how i have 2 "trims" around the subs and speakers is because like this you can have like an aluminium plate to mount things on there (doesn't have to be too thick, just enough to support the subwoofer there would be an actual box behind the box, the whole thing could be "fixed" in there via the hole that are use to hold the sunroof belt (maybe like a bar of wood or an 90 degree angeled steel bar, )or you could get a 60 degree bar to fit right infront of the whole thing, so you would drill it to the whole "fixture" and the other part could run where the carpet holder is (the thin sheet metal bar that holds the carpet right ontop of the storage bins) Like this you could still have a good view of the rear (maybe minus the quarter windows depending how the back side is done) but the amp could be angled to the back further more to give you more visual clearance through the back. This could be made to clear the spare wheel, because of the 2 speaker on top of the thing too you would just cancel out the 2 stock one unless you want to go speaker crazy. Its just a thought but let the flamming begin :D |

wow finally som1 not thread jacking!

nice looking design! dont know if i could handle that much speaker right behind my head though...
|
ive thought about putting a 8" subwoofer in each storage bin behind the seats but i havent put anythought if i would make a box to fit or just enclose it. My neighbor builds subboxes i should ask him.
|
i just purchased some 1/2" mdf to put my 2 8" rockford fosgates in i dont have storege bins but my idea is to make some and put the subs above pointing to the hatch
|
I highly recommend a simple 8" SAS Bazooka in the back of the hatch. It sounded so good (with the hatch acoustics) that I completely abandoned all my other big subwoofer plans. Trust me, I wasn't a fan of Bazookas my whole life. But it works very well in a 1st gen hatch.

one 8"
i did one 8" behind the drivers seat which sounds pretty good. Its a JL 8w6...
