a few noobish questions..

first off.. I would so a search but tis takes too long for the site to bring me back my results. I think its a bandwidth problem. anyway.. my questions..

I have a 1985 GLS 12A standard tranny.

I need an engine the 12A blew up this morning :(
I have a 13B ('85) for the mean time can I use the carb and intake from the 12A to get me on the street?

I am haveing headlight trouble..
I took the motor out and tested it on the other side, and its working fine. I checked the wireing with a tester and everything is fine. when I hook it up it doen't work. Could it be the fusible link?

Anyone have a link they can provide to the tread thats got the mod for the throtle body mod?

again, I wouldn't have made this tread if the site would have just gave me what I am looking for. Thanks in advace to anyone that contributes some positive input.

Tha 12A intake will not work on the 13B.

Explain your headlight problem a little more, I don't get the hole thing.

They're different Engines basically, one's fuel injected, the other carb... You'd need the 13b ECU I believe along with it's sensors and such... Although I could be very wrong on this one....

The first thing to do is check the ground on your pass. side. Make sure it's there, and that you are getting good ground.

they have carb specific intakes for the 13B though to get it all set up would cost you (most likly) more time and money than getting another 12A if you're just wanting to get back on the road in a short time.

the motor works.. goes up and down.. on the drivers side. When I place it on the passenger side it doen't move. Only time it moves is when I pull the plug and turn it by hand. Then when I reconnect it, it moves up and stays there.

Thats what I thought it was.. the ground. However I sanded the area down to the metal with a dremel tool and its still not working. Thats why I think the problems lies somewere else. I checked each lead in the plug and the contacts are all fine. what else should I check? Could it be a fusible link or some type of fuse? How about a adjustment that I might need to make to the motor?

edit..
the cheapest way to get that 13B running in my car would be to go carb with it. Anyone know whats the cheapest way to carb the 13B?

I think the fusable link would be okay if the drivers side works fine as it's on the same circuite IIRC. That's a pretty odd problem. So if you turn on your headlights, the drivers side works as normal?

yeah, let say I put the lights down, drivers with the switch, passengers manually. I turn the lights on.. they both come up. same thing if I just use the switch. Once there up.. and I shut the lights off, drivers side comes down.. passegers stays up. weird as all hell. unless there something wrong with the wires coming out of the harness, and onto the motor.. humm I think I am going to check that tomorro. for now though, I am very stumped.
