Fender mirrors installed! [PICS]

I finally got my christmas presents installed on tuesday!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/DSCN7039.jpg

Bought them on ebay, I believe they were originally for a Datsun B210.

Easy installation:
1) Do the measurements and figure out where you want them
2)Pull the fender liners, and drill your holes
3)Install, and tighten down using locktite.

I tried to go with the stock mounting area of where I thought they should go.

They also came with a metal plate to brace the fender for the backside, and I actually think they work better than my stock mirrors.

Plus, I think they look better than the bullet-style fender mirrors on the green savannah.

Questions/Comments?

Can any of you post a picture from inside the car? I'd love to see what it was like looking down the road with them and into them from the drivers position.

Like headlight covers, I find fender mirrors hawt. OP, yours are fantastic.

I want opinions, how do you all think these would look on a black turbo FB with flares and coil-overs (aka: aggressive looking car)

Percentage 03-14-09 04:26 PM

Thanks.

I think it would finish the touch with the flares, that's what I'm hoping to do later on down the road. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of the holes in the mirror stands.

Here's the rest of the pictures.

They look very authentic out there.

Wow, I don't normally like fender mirrors, but that last picture you posted up from the inside of the car almost makes me want to put some on my SA. It looks awesome.

I always wanted to move the stock mirrors over to that spot! I have the power mirrors, so I would have to run the wiring as well.

Very nice set up! I like the inside the car look, but they seem about 3 inches too tall to me.

Interesting. I'd make sure to seal up the metal where you cut into the fenders. Those holes could rust very easily, ruining your work and possibly costing you a mirror or two from rust. Do my eyes deceive me, or did you mount them slightly forward of the top of the wheel well? May I ask why you choose that particular location and not directly over the wheel wells?

dominicaneddy 03-14-09 08:23 PM

now only if you can make them electrical that would be the POOP!!

Hyper4mance2k 03-14-09 08:29 PM

Now just don't hit any pedestrians. That's why fender mount mirrors are illegal here in the US. Because of pedestrian safety laws. I hope you don't get too big of a ticket for those.

I used paint to seal the bare metal-thanks for pointing that out, forgot to mention in the instructions for installation, obviously we wouldn't want to lose all the precious work now would we?

I chose that location, because i was judging off that picture of the green SA [in my first post], where they are mounted just forward of the top of the fender wells. And before drilling, I wanted to see if that location would work for where they were still practical, and the location works really well.

It shouldn't be too big of an issue, they don't stick out any further than the stock mirrors I had on the doors. I did measurements. Appreciate the concern though.

very nice

ray green 03-15-09 10:41 AM

What would happen if you kept the door mirrors and then added fender mirrors? Would you get different views from each set?

Can somebody photoshop that?

Think you can measure distance from light lid to the mirror. Along the crack of the hood. I love the distance you chose to install yours.

I like I've always been a fan of fender mirrors .

Just measured this evening. Let me know if you need any other measurements!

I did the first one based off the look I want, got the measurements the same way and did the second.

Cheers
