FD or TII box in 1st gen, what driveshaft?
 

I tried searching, but cannot find answers.
Some guys have put TII gearbox's in their 1st gen, when swapping to a TII engine. I can find some intresting info on the gearbox, but not on the driveshaft.
What driveshaft are you people using?
I'm planning a 13B swap, and was offered a rebuild FD engine and brand new FD box. So I was just wondering, if I'd dig out the money, how could I possible fit this?
I know about engine, box, and gearlever/shifter.
But nobody ever mentioned the driveshaft...
Who tells their secrets? Pics would be very usefull!!!

custom custom custom, you have to use a T2 imput shaft and whatever rear end flange. measure it up and talk to a good professional driveline shop. i would recommend a 3" over a 2.25" (no clue in metric) diameter

Also, and FD uses a "pull" type clutch system which is rarer and more expensive than a TII tranny.

FD Trannys mount to the PPF in the FD, not a regular tranny mount like the TII.

Internally, the TII tranny and FD tranny are the same, except the FD has weaker gear synchros.

So what does this mean? Unless you like burning money up for no reason, there is absolutely no advantage to running an FD Tranny.

A TII tranny (prefereably 87-88) will mount much easier than any other.

Its gonna have to be a custom 3" driveshaft, I got the front spline from a t2 and hacked it off and had one made with the rest...

I beleive from memory the distance from the tailshaft of the trans (outside) and back (thats including the the pinion itself) is 41.5 inches

The reason for a FD box would have been that it's new, while a TII box would be a used one, and not very easy to find overhere. It'd be likely to pay 40 to 60% of the offer I have on the new box, for an old TII. So that's why I wanted to go the FD route. It seems the drive shaft will be difficult either way, with hardly any specialist shops around that can balance the assambly...
